We kicked off the morning very early, since Animal Kingdom opened at 7:30 a.m. and we had to pack up, check out, and get ready for our road trip south to Miami.

We pulled up right at opening and were so excited to ride Dinosaur one last time before it transforms into Indiana Jones… but sadly, it was down. No farewell ride for us. We grabbed a quick breakfast in Pandora, then headed straight to Kilimanjaro Safaris and Kali River Rapids to squeeze in a few final Animal Kingdom favorites.

Next stop: Typhoon Lagoon, where we spent a final Orlando hour bouncing between the lazy river and that massively awesome wave pool. Short visit, maximum fun.

Just after 11, we hit the road for the four‑hour drive to Miami. The speed limit said 70 mph, but Florida drivers clearly treat that as a suggestion – if you weren’t doing at least 80, you were basically standing still. The traffic flow is crazy as, and you really do have to drive like a local to keep up.  Even a popcorn float was going like 75mph (120km/h!!)

We made a quick lunch stop at Wawa (fave road‑trip choice) for some filled rolls and mac cheese.  Thankfully we rolled into our hotel just in time for happy hour drinks and dinner. And next to the hotel is a cool fountain light show so that was a fun end to a tiring commute down to Miami.
