Today was officially home time day, but we eased into it with a slow, relaxing start. A proper sleep‑in, breakfast, and a bit of light life admin before tackling our one true mission: In‑N‑Out Burger.  It was a 30‑minute drive, but absolutely worth every minute. We ordered a cheeseburger and a double‑double, and both were delicious and simple – exactly what we were craving.

Because we didn’t want to pay for two full days of car rental, we needed to return the car by 3pm. With our flight not departing until 8pm that left a decent stretch of time to fill before check‑in opened. Tim headed off to drop the bags, and I was dispatched to secure prime airplane‑viewing seats in the lounge.

The Polaris Lounge delivered as always. Great cocktails, including a very satisfying Old Fashioned, followed by the famous Polaris burger. The only sad thing was we didn’t get to try the United anniversary Sundae inspired Old Fashioned as they were out of some ingredients 🙂 Anyhow, it was a calm, comfortable way to spend a few hours, and noticeably less busy than last year.

Our flight left pretty much on time. We enjoyed a glass of champagne before “second dinner” and managed a semi‑decent sleep as we cruised back toward reality. We landed right on schedule and were home by 7:30am, where we squeezed in another two hours of sleep before I went into work (and I suspect Tim slept for longer haha)

Thanks for following along, it was a fantastic trip and we were excited to share with you.
